The Marshall Hotel was the venue for such musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, and Louis Armstrong and even provided shelter to the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski. Two Rivers management team provided consultation for the demolition of the 5-story structure while retaining two 100-plus year old exterior brick walls with deteriorating mortar. We disassembled, numbered, and transported for safe keeping such historical items as the tin cornice and corbels that ringed the top of the walls, signs, emergency fire exit stairs, and several windows. Also removed was 30 cubic yards of bat guano piled more than a foot deep. Simultaneously, our abatement crews removed the hazardous roofing and TSI piping from within the interior walls of the Marshall Hotel.
